Description

Dawson Wallace was awarded the construction of the new MD of Taber Operations and Maintenance Building in December 2016. It is an entirely precast structure complete with a precast mezzanine. The roof structure is comprised of OWSJ, metal deck and metal roofing. The shop space houses multiple vehicle lifts as well as two overhead cranes, and has overhead doors on both the north and south elevations. There is also a large office fit up, totaling approximately 8,500 s.f.. The precast at the office area is accentuated with a wood grain finish and a stain applied on the precast.The building has exterior concrete aprons at the overhead door location, sidewalks to the west as well as an asphalt paved parking lot.

Description

This elementary school located in the southwest community of Aspen Woods consists of structural steel and block construction on a site area of 5.83 acres. The school is part of the Calgary Catholic School District and is host to 600 kids from grades K-6. The new school has 9 classrooms, an art, music and science room, full gymnasium, and the ability to expand with two future portable classrooms. This complex tender awarded by CSSD was valued at approx. $11.3 million and was completed for class in 2017.

Description

The Permanent Response Station No. 7 project was a City of Calgary Building Infrastructure project awarded to Dawson Wallace in November 2015. It included the abatement and demolition of an existing firehall and rebuild of a 12,320 s.f., three storey fire station with offices, kitchen, sleeping quarters, outdoor over-hanging terrace, and garages. The building was constructed on piles and grade beams and has structural cast-in-place concrete with stone and composite metal panel finish.

Description

The Lethbridge Regional Police Service Expansion and Renovation project consisted of the construction of a three-level structure at the rear of the existing building and a two level underground parking structure. The addition added approximately 3,500 s. m. of functional area, making the total building footprint of the headquarters facility approximately 9,500 s. m. The parking structure increased the parking capacity for operational and staff vehicles from 167 spaces to approximately 248.

Description

Description

This was a Construction Management project which included the complete replacement of the South Plaza of the Campus, and while the plaza was disturbed, a rehabilitation of the Physical Education Building Tunnel. Egress from adjacent buildings for the public and building occupants had to be maintained throughout the course of construction, and extreme care was taken during the excavation scope due to the proximity of the site to roadways which had to be maintained and utilities which couldn’t be compromised while construction was underway.

This two-storey building (28,800 s.f.) includes a library, administration facilities and classrooms for the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton. With its high degree of finish, it is a stunning complement to the St. Joseph Seminary on the same site.

Description

New K-6 Elementary School constructed for the Stoney Tribal Administration. This 46,000 s.f. school includes a running track, ball fields, gym, library, kitchen facilities, multiple classrooms, and multipurpose spaces. This project was completed on time in August 2012. This project was unique in that Dawson Wallace took it over from a contractor that had defaulted. As such, we had little time to take stock of the condition that project was in and react, with the consultant team, to rectify work in parallel with getting the school open on time for the new school year.

Description

This project was comprised of an expansion to the existing 14,000 s.f. school, adding a new gymnasium and new front entrance, to bring the new square footage to almost 19,000 s.f. The existing school was also selectively renovated with new finishes, and new mechanical and electrical systems. The existing gymnasium was converted into a new library, classroom and gathering space for the students. This project was completed on time in August 2012. This project was unique in that Dawson Wallace. took it over from a contractor that had defaulted. Kodiak House (LEED Shadowed) Lethbridge, AB

Description

This $12 million, five storey, 109 unit building was built green with a heavy focus on energy efficiency and water conservation. The building’s structure is oriented to take advantage of the famous Lethbridge wind for cooling. The low-cost, dormitory-style rooms will raise by 25 per cent the number of students the college can house on campus.Fifteen of the suites are wheelchair accessible and barrier free for people with moblility issues. Each suite has a private bathroom, and is furnished with a queen bed, desk, and wardrobe. Kitchens are equipped with microwaves, fridges and hotplates.
