Description

Restaurant Brands International awarded Dawson Wallace Construction the contract for Design-Build of the Tim Hortons Distribution Centre Facility in March 2019.

The project is a light industrial freezer / cooler building that is intended to be used to store food products for Tim Hortons Restaurants. Designed by Dawson Wallace Construction and Gibbs Gage Architect, the building is approximately 92,000 s.f. consisting of an office area and maintenance shop with dry, cooled and frozen storage. The building sits on a 12 acre site that consists of 39 trailer stalls, 72 car parking stalls as well as 25 tractor truck parking stalls. The construction of this newly designed distribution center will start in July 2019 with a completion in August 2020.

Description

Dawson Wallace has been awarded the Design-Build contract for the industrial freezer storage expansion of Pratts Food Facility in Rockyview, Alberta. Pratt is Western Canada’s largest family run independent foodservice distributor for over one hundred years. This project is expected to start construction in October 2019 and to be completed by June 2020.

Upon completion, this new expansion project will add approximately 38,000 s.f. of light industrial freezer racking. Together with an innovative and collaborative approach, Dawson Wallace will incorporate all related refrigeration, mechanical, and electrical equipment to the current existing design. This expansion project will also include the removals, remediation, and replacement of all existing site grades, utilities, asphalt, exterior concrete aprons and sidewalks, and landscaping.

Enright Capital has awarded Dawson Wallace the Construction Management contract for an industrial condo warehouse located in Calgary, Alberta. This new building will encompass 73,000 s.f. of floor space, 16,500 s.f. of raised mezzanine, and approximately 150,000 s.f. of associated sitework.

The construction of this new facility sits atop a previous meat processing facility which will be abated and demolished. The new construction will incorporate structural steel, precast wall panels, and large front curtainwalls with stepped foundations and interior slabs. The construction is scheduled to start in July 2019 and be completed in early-summer, 2020.

Restaurant Brands International awarded Dawson Wallace Construction the contract for Design-Build of the Tim Hortons Calgary Distribution Centre Facility in January 2019.

Designed by Gibbs Gage Architect, the 124,746 s.f. distribution center on 556,429 s.f. (12.8 acres) of site area, was designed to incorporate form and function including creating a future possible expansion of the facility.

The construction of this newly designed distribution center will start in March 2019 and is to be completed with freezer/cooler area, ambient and maintenance area as well as office space which will increase its usable interior space as well as 85-stalls trailer parking and 18 loading docks. The facility is planned to be one of the largest Tim Hortons Distribution Center in Western Canada once it is completed in February 2020.

Description

The Haskayne Legacy Park Building is located in the Calgary’s northwest section, neighbouring the community of Bearspaw, positioned in the County of Rockyview. This Park Pavilion will be an outdoor/indoor multi-purpose facility with an occupancy of around 50 people. Some unique architectural features are the weathered steel, the wood deck ceiling, along with open glazing, exposed concrete, and a paving stone walkway.

This Pavillion will include washrooms, a decorative fireplace, storage, and a small office space covering approximately 2,420 s.f., with a total site square footage of 68,864 s.f. This project will follow sustainable building initiatives, including a net zero target, along with a geothermal heating system.

Description

Building on an established relationship with the City of Lethbridge, Dawson Wallace Construction Ltd. was recently awarded the contract for the City's new fire station following a competitive tender and proposal process. The new station will service the south zone of west Lethbridge, providing additional coverage capacity to the surrounding communities. With construction commencing in December 2019, the new station will encompass approximately 13,293 sq.ft. of space.

It will be comprised of structural steel and precast construction, and will feature fully glazed overhead doors on the primary elevation and a partial mezzanine. Housed within the station will be three apparatus bays, bunk rooms, administrative offices, locker and shower rooms, a communal kitchen and dining area, and a fitness room. The interior flooring will feature both polished concrete and epoxy flooring throughout. Additionally, the station will also house a new training zone for Hose Training. Construction is anticipated to run for 13 months, inclusive of site development including concrete aprons, sidewalks, asphalt paving, and landscaping.

Dawson Wallace Construction Ltd was awarded the contract for the new South Lethbridge Elementary School following a competitive tender in January 2019. Following the finalization of provincial funding, the final contract was issued in April 2019, and construction commenced soon after. Located in Lethbridge’s Southhbrook community, the new school will encompass 42,000 sq.ft. on the main floor, providing space for 600 students.

The school will house classrooms, a gymnasium, administrative areas, project centres, a servery, and a library and music room. In addition to traditional classroom space within the main structure, eight modular classrooms will also be installed in order to provide additional capacity. The main school is comprised of a structural steel building on strip footings. The exterior will feature primarily brick veneer, with metal cladding on the upper gym walls. The school will also be equipped with large arrays of solar panels on the roof and gymnasium walls, as well as a large mechanical penthouse. The new South Lethbridge Elementary School is expected to open in September 2021, and is valued at approximately $15,000,000.

Dawson Wallace is proud to continue our ongoing partnership with Quadreal, and has been selected as the Construction Manager to assist with design and complete the construction of the new Northwest Business Park (NWBP) - Project Vibrant, which is targeting an early 2021 completion.

Located on the intersection of Groverdale and Haggart Ave in North Winnipeg, the NBWP - Project Vibrant will consist of a 120,000 sq.ft. distribution warehouse and associated site works on a 10.3 acres site. The building will be constructed out of architectural insulated MP wall panels with design features consisting of composite metal wall panels and spandrel accent bands throughout. The facility is being built to suit a distribution tenant, with office tenant fit-out and supporting interior amenities including a gym, cooler storage, and an 18,000 sq.ft. mezzanine. The site will feature secure entry gates at truck access, and employee access points with an employee drop off roundabout on the North side. During the design portion of the project, Dawson Wallace is acting in a design overview role, which allows us to leverage our significant expertise in large scale distribution facilities. In our role as construction manager, we will be responsible for ensuring the most economical and practical details are included during the design to ensure critical areas such as the slab design are completed and executed on site to provide flat and crack free concrete floors. Dawson Wallace will also help ensure the building is designed to easily allow a potential future 40,000 sq.ft. expansion to the East without impacting the operation of the existing tenant.

Dawson Wallace was recently awarded the contract to construct an addition to the existing Sullivan Heights Secondary School. Located in the Metro Vancouver city of Surrey, this project represents Dawson Wallace’s first project with the region’s school district, and will further reinforce our presence in BC’s Lower Mainland. Constructed of structural steel, the addition will encompass 80,000 sq.ft. over four stories and will create capacity for an additional 700 grade 8 and 9 students. Housed within the structure will be a new gymnasium and computer lab, designated home economics and work shop spaces, a science super lab, twenty new classrooms, a multi-purpose room, and outdoor seating areas. The addition will be completed in time for the 2021-2022 school year.
